Amasra Castle

SUMMARY: Amastra Castle in Amasra. And Boztepe-Kemer Bridge-Zindan castle in Amasra Castle. Amasra Castle is behind the sea.

Amasra Castle belonging to Byzantine Period had been changed especially in Genoa Period and had been repaired at Geona and Ottoman Periods in 14-15C.
Castleis formed by two main masses.One is in Boztepe Sormagir Castle wihch is fixed to Amasra by bridge which is called'Kemere' and the other is Zindan Castle.At the norheast end there is Big Habour Door and in the west thhere is Small Harbour (Antique) Door and at the South there is Zindan Door.To Ssormagir Castle, it is entered from a vaulted main door which is adjecent with ' Dark Place' and 'Called Karanlık'
and it is exited in two doors either from Antique Harbour or Hacı Sea.


Amasra Castle's east walls' length which is between northastern and southeast is 65m. Its South walls which have 8 towers, which have a length of 300m and North walls beginning from Kemere Bridge are 200m long and most of them are destoyed.

Walls weren't built at Sormagir Castle because it's North and Northwest are very sharp over sea.The walls surrounding the east,northeast and west have collapsed but the walls which are 50m and adjacent to the door are still fit...
