Amastris Amphora

Amasra had been a famous center that produce amphoras at Amastris Period (308 and 285 BC) considering the shape they were similar to Taşoz Amphoras. There were two common types; one is large and the other is naarrow.Large ones resemble Sinom Amphoras with their gradual mouth, high sides, large ones resemblw Sinom Amphoras with their gradual mouth, high sides, large center, ovoidal body and spinous bottom.Their seals took place at their throat.Besides this convace inscription AMCHT/PIOC and at right bottom side an ivy leaf took place.The narrow ones resemble Heraclia Amphoras. Their seals are at their throat like the large ones.



The most important charasteristic of Amastris Amphoras is that a line at the edges of the mounth, and their seals aren't at the sides but they are at their throat...
